CELEBRATING WOMEN
August is Women’s month when we celebrate the great women in our lives, mentors who have shaped our world views – mothers, grandmothers, teachers and others.
This year we are looking at great women designers and performers who have shaped their industry in some way.
We have celebrity scents from Beyonce, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna. All unique ladies who have brought something new, they pushed the boundaries of art, fashion and entertainment and have in their own rights become icons.
Designers who have influenced the way we look at fashion and scent and from whom we have some of the most memorable scents ever created.
Coco Chanel with Chanel no 5, Carolina Herrera and Good Girl, Donna Karan with DKNY Be Delicious, Estee Lauder and Youth Dew, and Jo Malone who’s simple ingredient descriptions like Lime Basil and Mandarin have become iconic.
Each of these women have made a unique contribution that mirrors and defines cultural movements of the time.
Chanel no.5 brought perfume into the fashion mainstream, Youth Dew is the scent of the 1950’s’ American independent woman movement,
Be Delicious ushered in the fresh fruity scent and defined that generation, Lime, Basil and Mandarin showed that simple and clear are a great marketing message and Good Girl redefined what a perfume bottle could be.
These are by no means their only achievements and all these women have created magnificent scents for men and women alike.
