“Why? Nobody Was Going to Smell It.”

It was Saturday morning.

No meetings.

No lunch plans.

No errands.

Just a morning walk with my lovely wife, other than that I wasn’t planning to leave the house at all.

Just a few jobs around the house and garden, a bit of admin, and perhaps some time in my home gym.

I got up, put on my walking kit and instinctively went to put on a fragrance. I wasn’t sure what I felt like, so I rifled through my collection until I found one that jumped out at me.

A couple of sprays. The same as I would on any other day.

It wasn’t for anyone in particular, it was really just for me.

I was going for a walk.

Apart from my wife, nobody was going to smell it.

Not a client.

Not a friend.

Not even the person making me a cup of coffee.

It was mostly for me.

So why did I bother?

I think we all have little rituals like that.

The golfer who carefully cleans his clubs after every round.

The chef who sharpens his knives before service.

The person who makes the bed, even though nobody else will see it.

The gardener who tidies the shed before packing away.

None of these things are essential.

And yet somehow they matter.

Because rituals aren’t really about the task.

They’re about the person doing it.

I’ve come to realise that putting on fragrance each morning has quietly become one of those rituals for me.

It’s a small moment that marks the beginning of the day.

A way of saying,

“Right… let’s get on with it.”

Some mornings I choose something fresh and energetic.

Other days I reach for something a little warmer and more grounding.

Occasionally I wear what I’ve come to think of as my “armour” scents.

Not because it changes the world.

But because it changes how I step into it.

I don’t wear fragrance every day because someone else might notice.

I wear it because I notice.

The older I get, the more I appreciate these small, almost invisible rituals.

They help us transition.

From home to work.

From rest to action.

From uncertainty to confidence.

Life isn’t usually changed by one dramatic moment.

It’s shaped by hundreds of small habits repeated over time.

The cup of tea before the day begins.

The walk after dinner.

The book before bed.

The fragrance before walking out the door…

Or even before staying home.

Fragrance is often thought of as decoration.

Something we put on for other people.

I’ve never really seen it that way.

For me, it’s preparation.

A quiet reminder of the frame of mind I want to bring into the day.

Perhaps that’s why I still reached for a bottle on Saturday morning.

Not because anyone else was going to smell it.

But because it helped me become a little more intentional about and present in the day ahead.

If You’re Curious to Explore That

One of the pleasures of building a fragrance wardrobe is discovering that different scents can accompany different moments in life.

Some become uplifting.

Some become calming.

Some quietly give you confidence.

And some simply become part of your daily ritual.

That’s why we encourage exploration.

Not to find one perfect fragrance.

But to discover the ones that fit the different rhythms of your life.

You can start with:

  • 5 × 2ml samples for R100
  • 3 × 10ml fragrances for R200

Or, if you’ve already found a few favourites:

  • Any 3 × 50ml fragrances for R675 to build a more complete wardrobe

Sometimes the most meaningful rituals…

Are the ones nobody else ever sees.

Until next time
