We hope everyone had a great weekend and a very happy Mother’s Day.
On Tuesday we were involved in an IT summit focusing on the many applications of AI. The company that contracted us is an international research firm that has organised a number of these events in other parts of the globe. The event organiser is a great fragrance fan and loved the idea of having a perfume experience booth that attendees could visit during the down time.
They asked us to select 10 fragrances, from which they chose 6 and every attendee received a voucher to get a bottle of perfume (what a phenomenal idea!) and our role was to chat to them and take them through the scents on offer so they could select their favourite.
The perfumes on offer were:
A few interesting takeaways that we can report based on the 250 or so people we saw over the course of the day. Firstly no-one, really no-one refuses a complimentary bottle of fragrance. A lot of people did not know they had a voucher for a free bottle of fragrance, when we told them, they were over the moon. So much so, our booth was voted the most popular attraction at the summit!
The most popular scent by some margin was 3075 Hibiscus Mahajad (it really is an incredible fragrance), followed by 4 scents that were equally sought after 3054 Lancome oud bouquet, 3050 Myrrh and Tonka, 5032 Wood, Sage and Sea Salt and 6002 Terre D’Hermes with 2022 White Tea as the runner up.
Pretty well everyone liked all the fragrances, and many wanted to take multiple scents, but the deal was they got a voucher for only one and we were not able to sell them a second one, although as it happens a few raided their colleagues’ bags and nicked their vouchers and came back for a second. We had people coming to the booth with all sorts of merchandise to try and trade for extra perfume, really cool coffee mugs, water bottles, wireless phone chargers, and other branded goods that were supposed to be reserved for their customers. People will go to great lengths to get a good scent.
The majority of people who chose 2022 White Tea were men, largely for themselves, 6002 Terre D’Hermes was taken by far more women than men, again as a scent for themselves. Interesting that when one takes all identifiers off the bottle and people choose purely based on the scent many of the stereotypes fall away.
If you’re interested in a new scent or are just curious, why not pick up a couple of samples of one of these fragrances, especially if you lean towards unisex fragrances.
If you are looking for something interesting for your next corporate function or gifts, give us a shout and let’s have a chat.
All the best
Rob
