The Surprising Shortcut to Being Instantly More Attractive

It was my turn to do the late night party lift. I am collecting my kids and 4 of their classmates from a social and then taking them back to our house for a sleep over.

“Shoo! That guy smelt bad” exclaims one of the girls as they get in the car. Now all teenagers with their raging hormones smell a bit ripe in my view. For them to single out one person says a lot.

The story I heard was they were all dancing together and this poor guy was trying to catch their attention with his dance moves. One of the girls described him as cute, so by all accounts a few of the girls weren’t entirely disinterested, until they caught a whiff of him. At that point it was all fall down and they all left the dance floor to get away from him.

This happened a few times. Good song comes on, girls head out to the dance floor. Smelly boy comes to dance with them. They all leave.

There is actually quite a bit going on here. Scent is a cue that we as humans use to organise social hierarchy.

This guy was attractive enough to catch one or two of the girls’ attention, but his body odour was off putting and that was a hurdle too high.

An unattractive person who smells great has a much better chance in the attraction game than an attractive smelly one. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and attraction is an individual thing, but scent plays a pivotal role. Much better to be sweet smelling.

Many people think fragrance and smelling good is unimportant or are indifferent, but as the example above illustrates it’s a vital part of social acceptance. Smelling good to yourself and others makes you instantly more attractive.

When you smell good, you feel good and when you feel good, you look great. Immediately you come across as more confident and more approachable.

We’ll never know if that boy was aware of his unfortunate body odour affliction, the night could have ended very differently for him. It’s a shame as there are some basic guidelines that one can follow, that make it very manageable.

Use fragrances that have ambery, musky, oud, earthy, woodsy and smokey tones that can intermingle with the animalistic notes that characterise body odor. The idea is not to try and disguise the odour, but rather change the way it is perceived by those around you.

Here is a selection of unisex scents you can try for those times when your pits feel a bit ripe 😊.
